The Earth started as one continent called Pangaea meaning "all the Earth." It was surrounded by a sea called Panthalassa meaning "one sea." The earliest dinosaurs were roaming the Earth at this time.

The continent Pangaea then split into two parts to make the continents Laurasia and Gondwana. Laurasia consisted of the continents, that we call today, North America and Europe. Gondwana consisted of South America, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica.

Today, there are seven continents and four oceans. Those continents are Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, Antarctica, North America, and South America.

Eventually, the continents split apart again making five new continents. Those continents were Eurasia (which North America was still apart of), South America, Africa, Antarctica, and India.
